Add more information into BSM alarms

Description

BSMs can perfectly used for services like statuspage.io to present customers your system health or for emergency service calls.

All the worse that BSM alarms don't provide enough information about the outage (see attachment).

I don't like the fact, that I have to search for other alarms to figure out which one caused the BSM outage. Also alarms can be cleared automatically so you don't find something in the alarm page and you have to search for resolved outages.

Feel free to add other ideas.

Makes sense. Fortunately you didn't say, that informations in BSM alarms like

 

affected nodes:

node3 - icmp

 

could break the designed concept face with tongue

 

I never administrated really large environments, but I could imagine that my argument "Also alarms can be cleared automatically so you don't find something in the alarm page and you have to search for resolved outages." seems to be a bigger problem as in small environments. Correct?

The central idea of business services is that they are composed from alarm reduction keys to represent complex, multi-tiered entities that are too complex to model with other existing model objects. Navigating from a service-problem alarm down to one or more root causes, or up from a low-level alarm to a high-level BSM impact, is how the interaction was designed to be done. Having the service-problem alarm convey a concise statement of impact was never a goal of the feature.
