JMX Collector not stripping path separators from mbean object names when using store-by-group persisting

    Details

    • Type: Bug
    • Status: Closed (View Workflow)
    • Priority: Minor
    • Resolution: Fixed
    • Affects Version/s: 1.8.7
    • Fix Version/s: 1.12.2
    • Component/s: Data Collection - JMX
    • Security Level: Default (Default Security Scheme)
    • Labels:
      None

      Description

      With store-by-group enabled, OpenNMS fails to create the rrd file when trying to collect attributes for the following mbean due to the / in the object name:

      <mbean name="SessionManager" objectname="jboss.web:type=Manager,host=localhost,path=/">

      JMXCollector.java has a method 'fixGroupName' since OpenNMS 1.6.5 (see NMS-3209) but this only strips/substitutes the characters:

      [.:=,]

      Suggest that '/' be added to this list, but please consider adding other potentially invalid filename characters:
      \ ? % * | " < >
