Newts: The number of sample processing threads do not match the number of writer threads

    XMLWordPrintable

    Details

      Description

The Newts writer threads insert samples via the SampleRepository and then index these using the SampleProcessor.

The default number of Newts writer threads is 16, but the default number of sample processing threads is 8, which ends up blocking half of the the writer threads, if all of these are active.

The configuration for the number of processor threads is configurable via the org.opennms.newts.config.max_sample_processor_threads property, but is currently undocumented.

In order to avoid confusion, we should always use the same number of sample processing threads as we do writer threads, which is currently configurable via the org.opennms.newts.config.writer_threads property.
