M2022 Minions > 2022.1.8 Cannot use SCV credentials

Description

For any 2022 minion version greater than 2022.1.8 when using ActiveMQ, the minion will not use the opennms.broker credentials from SCV, and instead uses the default minion/minion. 2023 is not affected. Whether is affects Kafka is unknown.

Verified this with a mini appliance. Have not verified with a non-containerized minion.

Fix will be available in 2022.1.15.
Note that this problem was not present in Meridian 2023.

Raised as a follow up to look at issues reported by and .

The PR had not. been merged to release-candidate-2022. With the latest version built yesterday, the Minion Appliance does retrieve the credentials from SCV. Confirmed in and labs.

The Minion Appliance can only run published Docker images (security feature).

Workaround for the appliance to pull a different Minion container version:

  • On Meridian, edit $OPENNMS_HOME/jetty-webapps/opennms/WEB-INF/version.properties to

    2022.1.7 (working version)
2022.1.15-SNAPSHOT (for testing pre release version, container tag release-candidate-2022 will be pulled down).

  • Restart Meridian.
The version reported in the UI will be 2022.1.7 even if a newer version is running

Still experiencing the same symptoms with opennms/meridian-minion release-candidate-2022 (built on March 28th, 2023).

So as suggested looks like something else is causing this issue, or it is dependent on more than just this work.
